yes, grace, yes (poem)

IMG_0450In your life

if you’re lucky

you

hopeful

cast your questing line

far into the vast universe,

over and over

your invitations, your inquiries, your openings, your offers

your pleas

your please,

squeezing tightly shut

your soul’s wishful childlike eyes

praying, dreaming

that somewhere

someone will

to you:

yes.

In your life

if you’re lucky

you will

reap the joys not just of

being blessed

by yes

bestowed

but also digging deeply into

those capacious pockets

of your glowing soul

smile

to someone somewhere

who has asked to sit at the table

of your spacious grace:

yes.

  1. Uzoma says:

Grace is accomodating. It’s an open invitation. It’s a wonderful experience when we come across people who are willing to show such good act. Beautiful words, Sirena. If I may ask, what inspired you to write this?

    • SirenaTales says:

Thank you for your thoughtful, GRACEFUL comment. Funny you should ask about my inspiration, as you are part of it. Yesterday, I heard back from an artist I’d approached a bit apprehensively about a dance project and she replied with an enthusiastic, generous “yes!” I was over the moon and started writing this poem, during which I thought of all the folks who have so graciously supported and affirmed me–people like you, Uzoma! I realized the contrast between these gifts and the “no’s” I’ve received, often from people you’d have expected would have been more encouraging, people whom I’ve supported. But I quickly went back to focusing on the magic and contagiousness of yes, and of grace. Thank you for all of yours. Cheers!

Whoosh! Took my breath complete and utterly away…Standing here gasping just now. WOW — YOU rock my dear friend!

  4. Kokowrites says:

How lucky we are….how truly so too. Even in the words, you express the truth.

This is beautiful. Love the line “sit at the table of your spacious grace”.

Feedback=magic. What's yours?
