speak to me of rubies

murmuring crimson mysterious

lovely luminous

is that you

pluming sanguine passion

ether bound

radiating faceted brilliance

soaked in aromatic essence

heart’s questing incandescence

haunting hues

painting tunes galvanizing

nearly forgotten

swaying spectral, integral

now reclaiming

oh, when did your golden heart slow her neglected beat?

oh, when did your neglected heart slow her golden beat?

gorgeous ruby:

swirl your scarlet now

I’d not have written this any better–so much passion, so much tenderness. This flame, you gave it so much life and essence I can actually feel it burning, swirling, sending “haunting hue” (great description!) into the air. And then this couplet:
“Oh when did you golden heart slow her neglected beat?” and “Oh when
did your neglected heart slow her golden beat?”
    —nice word play!

It’s amazing how simply things can be awe-inspiring just because you made them so.

Aha! I just went back to reread your powerful “Tourniquet” poem, and as I had thought you’ve got the ruby in there, too: vivid “ruby-red regret.” Thank you for adding to my recent ruby-filled awareness (alas, none of the ruby gem herself, but certainly the energy of her beauty and potency)! And thank you as always for your heartwarming support. Looking forward to reading your newest installment of your story when I return from meeting! Cheers.

Oh wait! This is not actually about the fire…this is about the gem/jewelry in the picture, right? To be honest, I was carried away be the ruby-red (Yes! We’ve written about the same striking color in a space of one day :D) effect of in the picture that only concentrated on the fire that illuminated the place.

Ahhhh, Uzoma, you have hit the nail on the head, as usual. I was inspired by all of this: the hue, the gem, the flame, the passion…hoping that the reader would find something of interest and inspiration. You have found ALL…and yes, the ruby must be in the “ether” as it has been both my and your muse in the past day! Thank you, dear friend.
