song of a lighthouse

if I stand here steadfast

will you stand here by me

constant and unyielding

before a thrashing sea?

if I shine here brightly

will you shine here with me

beaming beacons radiant

 buoying engulfed fleets?

tho the winds do howl fiercely

while thunderous waves keep crashing

I am only asking

will you stand

defiant

resilient

brilliant

and with me

Please know, Tony, that you’ve done so much to inspire this poem (and others….) Both when I started it weeks ago and all the way through yesterday when you sent another kind comment….Thank you so much for the constant inspiration of your friendship, your art and your self, gleaming all. xo

What a perfectly brilliant welcoming beacon for me to spy on my first wordpress visit in a long, looong while. And who did I expect it to be from???? YOU, of course. Happy New Year, Beautiful Friend!!!!!

    • SirenaTales says:

Oh. My. GOOOOOODNESS!! It’s Luggage Lady! Yahoo! Such a deliciously sweet surprise to wake up to on this dreary, rainy morning, my friend. Thank you so much for visiting and for your kind comment. I hope 2014 brings you much laughter, joy and love. xoxo

I smiled when I saw this. Lighthouses have always been very significant to me and you capture that brilliantly in your writing. Your timing with the piece is perfect, I’ve just booked one for me and S to stay in xx

    • SirenaTales says:

Wow, a getaway in a lighthouse, Leila. That sounds enchanting. I’ve read about such opportunities-how cool and adventurous of you two to dive in. I hope you will write about your experience. Thank you very much for being here and for your lovely words. So pleased the poem resonated and that we share an appreciation of lighthouses. Bon voyage! Xo

Thank you both for the kind comment and introducing me to that Anne Lamott quote, which helped inspire me to return to this favorite image of mine: the lighthouse. xo

  4. F.G.M. says:

Wow! Beautiful. I love the title: “song of a lighthouse”, “lighthouse” it’s such a beautiful word in English! (Maison de lumière, in french we call it a “phare”).
    And “resilien”, a beautiful adjective!

Beautiful title + beautiful adjective + talented poet + graceful dancer + sea lover (est-ce qu’on peut dire ça?) = wonderful poem

    Your friend, Frédéric 🙂

    • SirenaTales says:

      **blushing**

Thank you more than I can say for your bountiful encouragement, my dear Frederic…especially for my humble writings about such wonders as the sea, lighthouses, dance…your companionship over the past weeks has been so heartwarming, especially coming from your talented self, my friend. love and peace

      • F.G.M. says:

I feel grateful, le destin a voulu que nos chemins poétiques se croisent! Take care, 🙂
