quest of a lifetime

imageMaybe we’re fools for even trying.

Maybe we’ll falter. Or fail.

Maybe we’re not strong enough, or talented, nimble, young, adaptable, swift, skilled, creative, resilient or brave enough.

Maybe the road will be too treacherous, tripping us up with boulders and dragons.

Maybe our inner demons will be too monstrous, tripping us up with boulders and dragons.

Maybe the hordes of naysayers are right, sitting on the forever sidelines shaking “no” their heads full of fear.

And maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.

But if we don’t try this–this move, this dance, this job, this moment, this adventure into the unknown–if we don’t stand as the heroes of our own journeys, we will never know.  Our lives but slight specters of what could have been.

So, we’re taking a leap! And another and…..

Care to come along?

  2. Most of my life I have taken that leap. A summer wandering in Montana led to quitting a good job and staying north awhile. Walking away from a “good marriage” because I needed ME. Moving out into an old school bus in the desert with no electric or running water. Trips to Guatemala during the war – hearing gunshots w-a-y too close.
    So many adventures.
    Not sure what is next, but I will come up with something!

    “And maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.” I know it sounds strange but this statement is serving an extra does of inspiration for me this morning. Some things are just not meant and that’s okay but doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. I’ll join you on your adventures, Chloe, taking mine along as well.

Thank you more than I can say for your stalwart and inspiring support here. I always breathe a little more deeply and happily when you come by with your big heart and bountiful wisdom.
