swimming my solitary seas
trawling
for wonder’s enchantment
calling
for shackled souls’ release
where are you my island
my comfort, my peace?
swimming my voracious seas alluring
wandering azure
restlessly
I grow weary of a lonely destiny
haunting the unanchored chill
haunted
yet undaunted still
let me now wash onto your nestling shores
let me pause, let me moor
on the gentle promontory of your lover’s heart
warm these star-tossed scales
still the tempest tail
fishbone comb seaweed studded hair
and dream my eyes on jeweled waves there
as we gently float
on and on horizons’ operatic notes
I with you my island
Perfecto! The sea…a perfect place to get away. I do have this dream at times, where I belong to the sea, rising each morning to marvel at its vast liquid beauty. Today, you awaken this appetite. And I’m grateful for the beauty of your words.
..so enchanting.
Do you happen to know the music band Coldplay? Your poem reminded me of one of their tracks entitled ‘Swallowed in The Sea.’
Oh, so pleased that I have whet your appetite for the sea-that is high praise, my friend. So grateful for your kind words. And I am honored by any association with Coldplay-thank you! I was not as familiar with the song you mentioned, so I just listened to it again and am thrilled that my poem reminded you of that lovely song. May the sweet sea breeze blow fragrantly across your path, Uzoma.
Beautiful and evocative. Thank you Susan

Chloe, purely magical. your poem embodies a world of longing – the mermaid’s laments and dreams sear my senses, setting my world alight. tony
